Young guns prefer Titleist balls and clubs(August 22nd 2005) Titleist’s tour favourites, including the Pro V1 ball, 905 driver and Vokey Design wedge are also the preferred choice of Europe’s top young golfers. Recent equipment surveys at major events for some of Europe’s most talented young golfers prove that Titleist is the #1 brand of choice for the future stars of both the pro and amateur game. Most notably Titleist’s success extends much further than the all-conquering Pro V1 golf ball with Titleist clubs featuring very highly in the major club categories. At the British Boys Amateur Championship¹ held at Hunstanton last week the Pro V1 and Pro V1x were clearly the most popular balls in play with an incredible 94% of the field choosing the #1 ball in golf. Similarly in the UK PGA Assistants Championship², played at The London Club recently, a stunning 97% of the field placed their trust in a Titleist golf ball for their biggest event of the year. The Boys Championship also saw Titleist come out on top in all the major club categories. The new Titleist 905 driver, as used by leading Tour Pro’s such as Ernie Els, helped Titleist perform very strongly in the driver count with 40% of the field compared to just 23% for the next brand. Similarly in the fairway metal and irons categories Titleist was the most used again with around 30% of the field preferring Titleist products including the 904 fairway metals and the 690 forged irons. Titleist’s short game tools were also prominent with over 40% of the field using Titleist Vokey Design sand and lob wedges, comfortably securing #1 position. Scotty Cameron by Titleist putters were also used more than any other brand with 37.5%, completing a hardware clean sweep. At the Powerade PGA Assistants’ Championship, Titleist clubs were again amongst the most used with Titleist drivers (43%), irons (29%) and Vokey wedges (46%) all topping their categories. Titleist fairway metals narrowly missed out on top spot with 25% just 1% behind the most played fairway metal and Scotty Cameron putters also came a close second with 28% of the field compared to 35% for the most played putter. Being #1 choice in the majority of the main product categories at The Boys Championship and the PGA Assistants’ Championship provides even further proof that the brightest young talent in Europe, whether they are professional or amateur, place their trust in Titleist above all others.
