Victoria Hills Named One of America’s Best Residential Courses by Golfweek

(November 21st 2005) Orlando-Area Facility Debuts on Prestigious List at No. 56

(DeLand, Fla.) – Victoria Hills Golf Club – the award-winning Ron Garl design at the heart of Victoria Park, a St. Joe community in historic DeLand – has been named to Golfweek’s prestigious list of “America’s Best Residential Golf Courses” for 2006.

Debuting at No. 56 on the top-100 listing, Golfweek heralded the course’s relationship to the overall community plan, the variety, conditioning and playability of the layout, and “how pleasing and interesting the course is as an experience.” Victoria Hill’s place on the list puts it ahead of esteemed residential courses such as Tidewater Golf Club, Lake Nona, Desert Mountain and others.

The residential ratings are derived directly from Golfweek's annual list of America's Best Courses, published each March since 1997. America's Best Golf Courses are ranked by more than 350 raters throughout the country, who judge on the basis of 10 evaluation criteria. Rankings are calculated using a statistically rigorous process.

“Golfweek is one of the most recognized and widely read golf publications, and we are honored to be included on this prestigious list,” says David Buth, General Manager at Victoria Hills. “With the sheer number of residential courses in the U.S. and the other outstanding courses that are ranked, it’s exciting that Victoria Hills debuted at No. 56.”

Conveniently located between Orlando and Daytona, the stunning layout boasts more than 50 feet of elevation change, taking advantage of the area’s natural rolling hills, foliage and wetlands. Tall pines and majestic oaks frame the course while sandy waste areas and pristine lakes make for inspiring sight lines.
