The Zero Friction Hardwood from Excel Golf tee

(January 11th 2006) The Zero Friction Hardwood, a new tee that has a surface area 30 percent smaller than traditional wood tees, will debut in two heights: 2 ¾ inches and 3 ¼ inches. Zero Friction's Biodegradeable, featuring its three-pronged teeing system that promotes longer drives, is being expanded to include a new 3 ¼-inch high model.

All four Zero Friction tees, as well as the rest of the company's products, can be seen at booth No. 6812 in the Orange County Convention Center from January 26-29.

Oversize drivers call for oversize golf tees”, says Mike Herron, Business Development Manager for Excel Golf Tee, Inc., the parent company of Zero Friction. “For a number of years the standard size was 2 1/8 inches, and recently the 2 ¾ inch has taken over as the new standard in the industry, with the 3 ¼ version close behind. As driver heads have grown in size, so have the golf tee offerings and the need for longer tees has greatly increased. The natural progression of the Zero Friction brand leads us to the 3 ¼ version. There are also certain drivers that simply perform better when the ball is struck higher on the face, and the 3 ¼ inch golf tee provides that extra height."

The Zero Friction Hardwood Tees are made from an exotic hardwood and feature a premium natural finish. While the cup surface is smaller than usual golf tees, the results are greater.

The Zero Friction Hardwood 2 ¾-inch tee is available in 2 packaging configurations.

For retail stores, a 50-pack will sell for $4.99 and for the on-course retailer, a 16-pack that will sell for $1.99. The 3 ¼-inch model will only be available in retail specific 35 pack which will sell for $4.99.

The idea was to continue with our Zero Friction theme – less resistance equals more distance, but to expand our tee offerings and retail distribution,” says Mike Herron, “The Zero Friction Hardwood has an upscale appearance with its luxurious natural finish. The exclusive or prestigious golf clubs will love them,” adds Herron.

The Zero Friction Golf Tee has become a long driving icon. Golfers on the major professional men's tours used its unique three-pronged teeing system to gain invaluable extra distance to win 12 tournaments last year. Nine of the victories came on the PGA Tour and three on the Nationwide Tour. The Zero Friction Golf Tee is also the Official Golf Tee of the Long Drivers of America Association and the Exclusive Golf Tee of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship.
