Proforce V2 Powers UST to Double Win(September 12th 2005) FORT WORTH, Texas — Graphite shafts by United Sports Technologies® (UST) claimed victories on professional tours around the world this weekend. While UST fairway wood shafts captured a win at the Bell Canadian Open on the PGA Tour, UST’s new Proforce V2 shaft dominated the Singapore Open, the third-richest golf tournament in Asia. Since its official unveiling in early June 2005, the all-new Proforce V2 has tallied an incredible record, scoring more than a dozen Top 10 finishes and four wins on professional tours. The Singapore Open was the most recent triumphant with this year’s Australian-born champion using a Proforce V2 shaft in his Titleist driver to score a record-tying 65 to win. “We congratulate the winners of both the Bell Canadian Open and the Singapore Open,” says Shawn Mullin, PGA Tour representative for UST. “UST produces some of the world’s most technologically advanced graphite shafts, and the V2’s rising popularity among the world’s best players and it’s winning record in pro events are clear demonstrations of how well the V2 performs.” According to Mullin, the new Proforce V2 provides an extremely low-torque design that optimizes the performance of today’s 400cc to 460cc heads. Most of today’s larger driver and fairway wood heads position the center of gravity further away from the shaft’s center line, a design characteristic that causes more twisting pressure on the shaft. However, the low-torque design of the V2 helps prevents clubheads from twisting open on impact, thus limiting the amount of back spin imparted onto the ball and transferring more energy at impact. The new Proforce V2 also incorporates UST’s revolutionary ‘hoop strength’ technology that uses a material lay up (or 90-degree material design) and helps the shaft recover faster when loaded or flexed.
