SHOW WILL BE BIGGER – AND BETTER(August 28th 2005) The 2006 London Golf Show may be eight months away but organisers are already promising a bigger show than April’s inaugural event. Around 40 per cent of last year’s exhibitors have already confirmed they will be returning – many of them with much larger stands. Consequently, officials at RB Exhibitions, the show’s owner, have increased the size of the show with, for instance, the number of driving bays increased from 29 to 62. There will also be two floating greens next year with more than six tee areas. Managing director Ross Broadstock insists the show will be as fresh and as innovative as before – but on a larger scale. “We have been encouraged by the speed with which many of our exhibitors have come back to us and signed up,” he said. “This year’s show was undoubtedly a huge success, but people often say they’ll return without actually committing. However, many have been in touch asking if they could increase the size of their stand and we are only too happy to accommodate them. “Naturally, we have therefore increased the size of the show. “We were surprised to hear rumours at the Open championship that the 2006 show would not be going ahead. But I can assure you that is not the case. The London Golf Show is solvent and economically viable and we will take great pleasure in demonstrating that fact.” He added: “We can only assume people are getting confused with another planned golf show which has, we understand, been cancelled. That in itself is a compliment to the health and vibrancy of our own event. “Perhaps those spreading the rumours are slightly envious of the success we – and our exhibitors - experienced. Our message to them is simple: we are here to stay – why not come and join us? The show is bigger than before and there’s room for everybody at ExCeL.” Next year’s London Golf Show will be held from April 27-30 at the ExCeL Centre in London Docklands.
