Weighing your options: KZG takes custom fitting to the next level with new OC-1 irons

(September 15th 2005) NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA ~ September 16, 2005 ~ KZG, the #1 Custom ProLine, has rounded out their line of high-performance game-improvement irons with the introduction of the OC-1. Featuring a wide sole, generous cavity, and elegant brushed satin finish, KZG~s newest offering is identical to their very popular OCx-1 Irons -- with one significant difference: The OC-1~s are lighter, designed expressly for steel shafts. KZG is the only company to offer iron models in different weights as part of their custom-fitting program.

~Most manufacturers sacrifice golfers~ fitting needs for a one-head-fits-all-shafts approach to clubmaking,~ says Jennifer King, president of KZG. ~Typically, iron heads are engineered for compatibility with the heavier weight of steel shafts, which creates swingweight issues when a graphite shaft is installed. Companies then compensate by making the shaft longer ~ even though it may be too long for the golfer -- or worse, adding extra weight to the hosel, which undermines the club~s game-improvement qualities. With the OC-1 and OCx-1 Irons, we ensure that all golfers get a perfect fit and optimal performance regardless of what shaft they play.~

While KZG has long been known among better players for producing the best forged irons in the business, their OC (oversize cast) line of irons are designed to make the game easier for the average player. With an extra-large sweetspot, maximum perimeter-weighting, and generous progressive offset, they produce higher-trajectory shots and offer superior forgiveness on off-center hits. What distinguishes them most from other cast irons, however, is not how they~re made - but what they~re made of.

~We use our own proprietary stainless steel alloy in all our castings,~ says King. ~It~s heat-treated to make it softer, so not only do they offer that elusive ~feel of forged,~ but unlike most castings, the clubs can be adjusted on a loft and lie machine with ease. Again, it~s about committing to the concept that all players, regardless of ability or type of iron they use, deserve premium clubs that fit their swing.~

The OC-1 and the OC-x1 Irons are available in RH in #3-9, PW, AW, SW; the OCx-1~s are also available in LH. Custom sets start at $579 with graphite, and $479 with steel.

With the introduction of the OC-1, KZG now offers five different lines of cast irons to go with six forged models. The broad selection gives clubfitters the options they need to fit every conceivable golfer, from tour players to beginners and everyone in between.
