(December 14th 2005) (JACKSON, Mississisppi) – The Mississippi Development Authority today announces that Dancing Rabbit Golf Club has garnered best-of distinction from Golfweek Magazine in its “America’s Best Resort Golf Courses – The Definitive Guide to Golf Travel in 2006.”

The resort ratings are derived directly from Golfweek's annual list of “America's Best Courses,” published each March since 1997. America's Best Golf Courses are ranked by more than 350 raters throughout the country, who judge on the basis of 10 evaluation criteria. Rankings are calculated using a statistically rigorous process.

“Mississippi is extremely pleased that Dancing Rabbit at Pearl River Resort has received this national honor,” says D. Craig Ray, Director of the Mississippi Development Authority Tourism Division. “The golf club and resort are truly exceptional venues and indicative of the great golf and other attractions Mississippi offers visitors throughout our great state.”

The Oaks and Azaleas courses at Dancing Rabbit were both designed by Tom Fazio and Jerry Pate. They are both highly acclaimed with the Azaleas ranking as the 2nd best course in Mississippi according to Golf Digest, as well the 70th best public course in the country, also by Golf Digest. Golf Magazine rates the Azaleas course No. 34 on its top 100 public courses list.

Mark Powell, Director of Golf for Pearl River Resort, says this latest best-of distinction inspires him and his staff.

“Our No.1 goal at Dancing Rabbit is to offer our guests the best golf experience possible, and we come to work everyday striving to achieve this goal,” says Powell. “Third-party endorsements from national golf publications like Golfweek let us know we’re on the right track and by sustaining our efforts we stand a good chance of accomplishing our objective for excellence.”
