Circling Raven Golf Club (Idaho Panhandle) Achieves Best-of Honors from Fairways & Greens Magazine

(November 16th 2005) Esteemed Golf Club and Resort Earns No. 7 Spot in Publication’s ‘Top 101 Golf Experiences’

(WORLEY, Idaho) – Circling Raven Golf Club – the sparkling amenity of the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort & Hotel in the scenic Idaho Panhandle – today announces the golf club was named No. 7 by Fairways & Greens Magazine in its “Top 101 Golf Experiences.”

Circling Raven and nearby Coeur d’Alene Resort – home of the world-famous floating green, located 25 minutes away and a fellow member of the Idaho Golf Trail’s Northern Loop – combined to garner the distinction. Bandon Dunes, Pebble Beach and Trump National were similarly ranked and demonstrate the quality of this “best-of” list’s members.

Circling Raven is part of the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort & Hotel complex, owned and operated by the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. The ranking for Circling Raven and the Coeur d’Alene Resort Course is the latest in a long string of best-of honors for these two world-class properties.

The 101 courses rated, all West of the Rocky Mountains, are resort or resort area courses and are open to the public, although some require patronage in their hotels and/or spas.

“When people visit our resort and our golf course, they know they’re in Indian Country,” says Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort & Hotel CEO David Matheson. “They discover the hospitality, the great golf and they see what can be achieved in concert with a vast and beautiful piece of land.”

The Fairways & Greens Top 101 list is contained in the just-published December-January issue. The upscale publication focuses on “golf, travel and lifestyle for the west and beyond” and is circulated in numerous Western states and Hawaii.

With just over two full seasons behind it, Circling Raven is also the newest course among those honored.

“Circling Raven has no apparent weakness,” states the magazine about the Gene Bates-designed course. “Its 18 challenging and distinct holes enjoy a perfect isolation that almost gives you the impression you are playing 18 one-hole courses.”

The high praise was not lost on Circling Raven managers, despite the steady stream of accolades the golf club and resort have enjoyed since opening.

“We are humbled and extremely honored – Fairways & Greens is a highly respected publication comprised of talented publishers, editors and writers who possess tremendous experience in the industry,” says Director of Golf David Christenson. “To be ranked so high among some of the greatest golf resorts in the world truly rewards the commitment made here at the resort and also by the Coeur d’Alene Tribe.”

GOLF, Golf Digest, Golfweek and Zagat Survey have all bestowed “best-of” honors on Circling Raven in the past 18 months. Furthermore, golf course architect Gene Bates was recently named “Architect of the Year” by The BoardRoom Magazine in part for his success at Circling Raven.

Contributing to Circling Raven’s acclaim is the price point and value it affords players. Its peak playing fee in 2005 was $79 with GPS-equipped cart and full privileges on the top-line practice facility.
