BREAKTHROUGH VICTORY FOR OBERHOLSER WITH NEW TITLEIST 905R DRIVER

(Feb 10th 2006) Titleist full line player Aaron Oberholser captures first US Tour title trusting Titleist from tee to green

It was a dream fulfilled for Titleist ambassador Aaron Oberholser who captured his first US Tour crown at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Playing on the famous course he calls home, Oberholser trusted Titleist equipment from tee-to-green, including the Pro V1 golf ball and new Pro Titanium 905R 460cc driver. Oberholser shot a final round even-par 72 en route to a 17-under 271 total. His five shot win margin equalled the largest ever margin of victory in the 77 year history of the tournament.

Oberholser became the first player to win on the US Tour with the new Titleist 905R driver. The new driver has rapidly gained popularity amongst the game’s elite and has now found success on both the main tours, with Oberholser’s win adding to a victory earlier in the year by Ernie Els at the Dunhill Championship on the European Tour. At Pebble Beach, 25 of the 50 players who relied upon Titleist drivers, opted for the new 905R model making it the most played 460cc driver in the field.

Oberholser’s bag also included a Titleist prototype fairway metal and Forged prototype irons. Oberholser was ranked first in sand saves with his Vokey Design sand (56) and lob (60) wedges and first in putts per round (25.8) with his Scotty Cameron Futura putter. Titleist was the most played brand in the field in the iron, wedge and putter categories.

With 133 players, Titleist was once again the overwhelming golf ball choice compared to the nearest competitor with just 19. In fact, Oberholser topped a leaderboard that featured eight Titleist golf ball loyalists among each of the top ten and ties, including Jonathan Byrd (tied 3rd), Mike Weir (tied 3rd), Luke Donald (tied 7th) and Vijay Singh (tied 7th).

Elsewhere, in Australia Kevin Stadler (Pro V1x) posted a stunning eagle on the final hole to win the Johhnie Walker Classic by two shots from Nick O’Hern (Pro V1). The victory earns Stadler a year’s exemption on the European Tour. Titleist topped the golf ball count with 121 players (78%), more than eight times the nearest competitor with 14.

These two maiden tour victories for Oberholser and Stadler advance Titleist's victory count across the worldwide professional tours to 15, five times more than the nearest competitor with 3.

Whether it is the continued progress of full line Titleist player Aaron Oberholser, the success of the new 905R 460cc driver or the constant flow of victories for the legendary Pro V1 and Pro V1x, the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
